Love your Work
Love the Work You Do
What do you love to do?
What do you do that, when you're doing it, you lose track of time?
What activity brings peace, presence, and joy, not because of the outcome, but because of how it feels in the moment?
We often think what we’re doing makes us feel this way. But what if it’s something more profound? What if that sense of peace comes because we’ve stopped thinking? The mind quiets, and in that space, love shows up. Yes, I said it:
Love appears when there is no thinking.
We usually credit the activity, not realizing that the real magic is that our thoughts have paused. We’re present, connected, and free.
In a world driven by productivity and overthinking, it can feel radical to center your career on what you truly love. But it’s not indulgent—it’s powerful. When you bring love to what you do, everything changes.
Love is not just an emotion; it's a state of being. It’s expansive, warm, and curious. It dissolves judgment and opens the door to creativity, clarity, and connection. It’s the energy that makes work feel like a gift instead of a grind.
I’ve seen this in so many ways:
In a meal prepared by someone who loves to cook—you can taste the love.
In a conversation where the speaker’s passion is so alive, you lean in—even if the topic wouldn’t normally interest you.
In a career path that looks unconventional, yet somehow just works, because the person is aligned with what they love.
One of the most beautiful examples was my CPA, Robert Carothers. He passed away several years ago, but I’ve never forgotten him. Robert loved his work and the people he served. I would walk into his office feeling scared and embarrassed about my finances, and walk out feeling like a queen. Not because of anything he really said or did—it was his love. His presence, warmth, and genuine care transformed the experience.
That’s the power of love in our work. When someone brings the energy of love to any situation, everything softens. Problems dissolve. Things move. Possibilities open.
So what do you love to do?
Let yourself follow that question, not just for a moment, but for your life. Let it shape how you show up, what you give your time to, and how you lead.
Because when love comes to town, everything changes.
