What’s Your Intention?

Intentions

My son called the other day, his voice tight with frustration.
“They never wrote me back,” he said.

“Send me the email,” I told him.

When it landed in my inbox, I could see it. Polite words, thoughtful details, a closing line that sounded like a soft wave goodbye. But no arrow. No request that gave his boss something to respond to.

When I asked him what his intention was, he paused. “I didn’t want to sound pushy. I just…wanted them to respond.”

And there it was. The hidden intention — don’t rock the boat. It had drowned out the real one.

I know this: hidden intentions are what people respond to. They split the energy, and the split shows up in the reply — or the silence.

Our intentions carry weight. They are arrows pulled taut in a bow, sending energy out ahead of us. Even when we pretend otherwise, the hidden ones speak loudest. People feel them, respond to them.

A few weeks ago, a client sat across from me, hands clenched in her lap. She was about to ask her business partner for more money, but she couldn’t find the words.

“Let’s ask your body,” I said.

Her head’s intention came first: Be smart. Don’t lose this deal.
Her heart whispered: I want to feel valued.
Her belly spoke: I deserve to be paid fully.

There it was — three arrows pointing in different directions. No wonder she felt torn.

When we gathered them, sifted out the fear, and formed one intention from love, her whole posture changed. She sat taller. Her jaw unclenched. She spoke her request out loud, and it landed strong — no apology, no extra words.

And she asked for more money. And she got it.

Reflection
The intention that comes from love is the one that carries everyone forward. It may feel risky, but it has a way of clearing the air and opening doors.

Invitation
The next time you’re about to write an email, make a request, or step into a difficult conversation — pause and ask:
What is my head’s intention?
What is my heart’s intention?
What is my belly’s intention?

See what shifts when all three point in the same direction.

Next Step
If you’re ready to explore your own hidden intentions and align with the ones that set you free, I’d love to have a conversation. https://calendly.com/annalscott/purpose-call
